Artivism in Education: Workshops and courses
As an artivism educator, I draw on the skills, knowledge and experience that I have gained working with school learners, university students and fellow educators to assist teachers (as well as people in related roles) in exploring the value of bringing arts and activism into their pedagogical approaches. In the workshops and courses I offer, I aim to do the following:
-
Explore techniques of engaging with the arts and artistic practices in developing lessons plans that enhance teaching and highlight the value of the curriculum beyond the classroom and in real-world contexts.
-
Establish how the arts and artistic practices can be utilized in pedagogical approaches in ways which empower learners, making them global citizens and changemakers.
-
Demonstrate how the arts and artistic practices can be used to guide learners when engaging in difficult conversations in the classroom.
These workshops and courses, which I run under the NonScenes umbrella, are designed for educators, cultural practitioners and organisations interested in integrating creative practice into socially engaged pedagogy. They can can be tailored to suit the demands/requirements of your institution/organization. Please contact me for further information.
