Teaching
In my 18-year teaching career, I have had the opportunity to teach interdisciplinary courses to undergraduate and postgraduate students from a range of disciplines and from diverse social, cultural and geographical backgrounds. More recently, I have taught working professionals and high school learners. Below are some of my teaching career highlights.
Teaching Highlights
2022-2026: Cultures of Hate and Oppression
This interdisciplinary course was taught in collaboration with colleagues and students from University of the Witwatersrand, Central European University (CEU), University of Birkbeck, London and School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS). The course was hybrid and offered students the opportunity to engage with one another on difficult contemporary issues. Via the course, they also produced their own podcasts. Further information on the online course and its in-person component can be found in my article.
2014-2021: Eduvos and University of South Africa (UNISA)
During my time as senior lecturer at Pearson Institute of Higher Education (now known as Eduvos) and UNISA, I was closely involved in curriculum development and facilitating research workshops.
At Pearson, I developed and coordinated the English Literature undergraduate modules, both for my campus and the eleven other campuses throughout the country. I also developed and taught a research essay module, supervised student research and developed and ran an English course for graphic designers.

At UNISA, I ran research-focused workshops and supervised postgraduate research.

2010-2013: Critical Thinking
For four years, I tutored on modules which focused on developing the critical thinking skills of students from a range of disciplines, including engineering (mechanical, electrical and civil) and architecture.

These skills were developed through engaging with the thematic concerns of novels, short stories, poetry and related texts.
